Not only that, but you can also earn a tax deduction for charity at the same time - sounds like a win-win situation! Not as easy as dropping your car off for charity in the parking lot, however, here are some tips to help you donate your car and get the love for the reduction: Select the charity, not all charities accept cars such as donations, but a growing number of reputable charities do. Try Charity Navigator, a charity for research and to accept donations from the machine or not. To be eligible for a tax deduction, you will donate to charity is an IRS approved 501 (c) (3) organization. - Thats really good thinking to donate the car which is lieing in garage as junk ,it will be usefull to others.
Cfrance - I checked into doing this. And it would make me feel good knowing te old car benifited a charity instead of just sitting in the junk yard being parted out and earning money for the junk yard.
- It seems that we have to follow lot of procedures ,just to donate
njrealestategirl - We have actually donated my husband's old pickup truck to a charity.  It was several years ago and I don't remember offhand which charity it was but they came and picked it up and provided us with the proper paperwork for income tax purposes.
- I think it is wonderful when people are able to donate their cars to charity, the charity benefits and so does the donor.
