beautyqueen26 - The second solution would most likely work for me. When it comes to resolving debt there is no good way to get rid of it; you just have to pay it off and go on! The best thing you can do is devote money to the debt every month and then cut other costs to make up for the difference. That way you're not spending any more money to delete the debt.

beautyqueen26 - Wish I'd known this information before settling my account with Sears.

- If you go the settlement route you need to make sure you follow up and make sure the collector reports it as Settled. Hound them if you have to, just make sure it shows up settled on your credit report.

- great post! but dont fear the "settled" on the report. I went through a settlement company and have a few of these on my report and my credit is comming back better every year. I have been out of the program for about 2 years now and my credit is better than it ever was
