- Very good ideas! It makes me to recall my childhood. When I was young,my family was very poor,my parents didn't buy me  toys,my brother and I made some toys by ourselves such as earthbags and whipping top.We also spent a happy childhood.
thinkingoutloud - There are some fun ideas here :)  Along the lines of the movie maker suggestion, my kids and I made a comic book when they were younger.  They both loved to read, right from the time they were small, and had vivid imaginations.  It took the better part of the day to think up the characters, decide how to draw them and then create a story for their "book."  The covers were more "crafty" and decorated.  Doesn't have to be fancy (only one daughter, not me or the other child, could draw worth a darn!  LOL) but it was a fun project and they were very proud when it was done.
jayguar - You have got a very good article. I would like to try at least few of the them. Thanks for sharing.

- There is no winter in our country but this post will be helpful to my brothers' kids who live in the United States and scotland.
sophie_dfuss - Great and cool stuffs to do with children! Thanks!
Carolyn - Great tips. You don't have to spend a fortune. It all depends on the age/stage of the child though. With older kids, if they complain, explain to them the reasons why you can't spend lots of money and get them involved in deciding free and cheap ways of having fun.
sisco100 - wow thats a lot smart ways to keep kids entertained.  thanks for the advice.
erica5412 - These ideas are wonderful! I have 2 little girls who get so stir crazy. Thank you for all the wonderful tips!

beautyqueen26 - I love that paper mache idea!
I love anything home crafted.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm going to break out the goopey glue and go to town.

My kid is going to love helping me make a mess.

beautyqueen26 - This is one of the best articles I've ever read on saving money! Seriously!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Another thing that we do in our house is play online games.  They're free, since we have already paid for our broadband connection and it's just one more way to justify the monthly cost.

More value for what we are paying.

The online games work great for snowy or rainy days and help pass the time.

RaeCam104 - Paper mache. Its cheap and gooey and you can be really creative with it. All you need is some flour and water and some old newspaper and you are in business. Another thing I have found invaluable is my $12 subscription to Family Fun magazine. All sorts of fun projects that you don't have to be Picasso to do.
Kat (Guest) - A great way to have fun with your kids and teach them basic financial lessons, basic investing, and math is to play the a free online Stock Market Game. It's a safe way to learn about investing. Kids get $1,000,000 in virtual money to invest. This one is free and kids can win up to $1000 in real money: www.youngmoney.com/stock_market_game
- some great tips here.  My child and I break out the board games or the nintendo wii wich is a treat because i dont allow him to do it very often.  Hes 4 and loves the moon sand he got for christmas and we do that alot.
