School holidays

The kids are home, you're home. What on earth can you do to make the holidays fun without breaking the bank?
For starters, get the kids involved in making the decision on what to do. You might have plans for super-educational things to do, but your kids are probably in chillout don't think mode. So ask them.
Here are a few no/low cost items to run by your children:
- visit the beach - only low cost if you don't have to drive too far
- learn something - libraries often put on cheap fun things during school holidays - my son decorated a rock and made a new rock friend that still lives in his room years later!
- go to the zoo - the animals are interesting and sometimes just watching them interact can lead to lots of fun, as you all try to work out why certain animals do certain things
- the library again - there are so many books out there, and so little time to read usually, make the most of holiday time and read!
