That's one of my dreams - to be financially secured and debt-free! Do you think it's possible?
Five years ago, I wanted to put up a small business - but my savings was not enough. I borrowed from family and close friends with a promise to pay them back of course. They were very supportive and I was so grateful. That was my first business venture. Unfortunately, it didn't go well though I really tried hard to stay afloat. Then I started to feel anxious, ashamed and depressed.
I made a promise again - to myself this time that I will pay what I owe no matter what. I started to read self-help books about personal finance, money matters and entrepreneurship. I was inspired! I told myself that I can be debt-free and it is a realistic goal. I learned that it can be done if I'm really serious about it.
I still have some money left and I was able to start a small-time business. I started to be frugal. It was hard at first but I was able to decrease my bills and spending habits. I started to save. I kept track of my expenses. I designed an effective budget that allowed me to live within my means. I figured out what my monthly bills were, as well as my monthly expenses and started from there. To cut the story short, I was able to pay my debts gradually and I was so relieved!
So if you take a serious look at what you do with the money you earn, you can find ways to save more, cut expenses and decrease your debts.
