In my opinion paid to click sites are not an option. About a year ago I used to spend hours each day clicking on ads and did manage to earn around $30 a month. The only problem was these sites stopped paying as I was building up my downline and increasing my earnings. The admin could not afford to pay everyone so he shut up shop and cleared off with our money.

In order to earn online you need to either have alot of time, a skill you can offer, or some money to invest. I use a combination of all three skills to help me earn more money to put too my mortgage. My time is spent using my writing skills to write articles for various sites. I also spend time learning about swing trading and how to read the stock exchange markets. My money is spent on stocks and shares as well as domain names for my websites.

If you have some time to invest, I suggest you learn a new skill and then use this skill to help you earn some money.

Last month I gave into temptation and used my credit card for some furniture I wanted. To be honest I went overboard and as I was going on a clothes shopping trip I did not have the funds in my bank account to pay for everything so the credit card came out. I absolutely detest putting anything on my credit card and not being able to pay it off right away, so after two weeks I got paid and managed to clear my balance again. But for how long is the question!!

I am trying to hold off putting anymore on my card for this month, but I do need new furniture and £2000 should be enough to complete the furnishing of my apartment. I have made a list of everything I need and want it all puchased by the end of June, so that any extra cash I have can be put towards my mortgage.

I have decided to hide my card, so if the money is not in my bank account it cannot be spent. I am allocating a small amount of money from my wages each month to help me buy this furniture without going into debt. My mortgage and car repayments are enough debt for me!!

As ever I am reading on ways to make some money and the latest thing that has struck me is premium bonds. Although premium bonds do not pay interest they do give you a 1 in 36 000 chance for every £1 spent of winning monthly prizes of £50, £100, £500, £1000 and even up to 1 million pounds.
They generate this money based on the interest levels that would be gained if the money was in a bank.

My bank interest rate on my current account is sitting at 0.5%. This means for every £1000 I put in I will get £5 a year back, not very much in my opinion, whereas if I put £100 a month in to premium bonds I will have a 1 in 3600 chance of winning some of the prizes. I feel this is worth it and the excitement would keep me putting money in month by month. Even better is the fact that you can withdraw your money at any time.

I am planning on putting at least £100 or maybe even as much as £300 a month which would increase my chance of winning into these bonds. I have heard of several people who have won and just imagine if I got really lucky and came away with the 1 million pound prize!! Another way to look at this is of course that this is £300 less I will waste on impule spending!!

In my next post I will consider the other ways I invest and try to make more money.

Food is so expensive, if we did not eat we would be rich!!! I decided on order to increase the amount of available money to pay off my mortgage I should cut down on my grocery shopping bill. Easier said than done you may think, but I realised as I live alone I was having alot of waste and throwing so much food out. Throwing food out costs you money for NOTHING. So in order to stop this I needed a plan and quick before more money was wasted.

First I decided that I would do my shopping three times weekly, as once a week meant things were going out of date and ending up in the bin. I find by shopping a week ahead by the time the end of the week came the food you were left with did not appeal and so yet again was dumped, what a waste!

Secondly I now make lists of everything I need. If I buy a small bag of potatoes I make them do me three nights in a row so that I can eat them before they go bad. I also buy a lot of frozen produce as you can eat how much you want and keep the rest for another time.

Initially when I started doing my own shopping I was treating myself way too much and impulse buying, so now I only take a limited amount of cash to the supermarket with me so this does not happen. I also limit my time shopping, before I would have walked around for ages lifting this and that and popping it in my shopping trolley.

Cheaper brands are not necessarily any less tasty than big name brands. By switching brands I saved at least £5 a week. This applies to all foods and toiletries especially which are so expensive.

By following these steps I have managed to save on average £30 a week!! This is an extra £30 to put towards my mortgage!! Every little counts!

In order to help me pay off my mortgage debt quicker I have resorted to freelancing online, specifically freelance writing. I write for many sites such as Triond, Helium, Associated Content, Squidoo and mylot. I get a payment each and every month from Helium, and Triond, and bi monthly payments from the other sites. Helium pays me between $45- $50 a month, and Triond under a dollar.

Here is how I earn this amount on Helium:-

Around $6 in page views

Write 20 articles at a pay rate of $1.50 month giving me $30

Write another 4 articles at a pay rate of $2.50 giving me $10

This amounts to $46 a month. Of course if I write more than this then I will earn much more. Plus the more I write the more money I earn from page views. Many of my better articles on Helium are about working from home, saving money and how to get out of debt.

I am planning to save most of this freelance writing money in my paypal and then use it to pay a little of my mortgage. Currently £1000 pays around 5 months off my mortgage, so hopefully by the end of the year I will have a few thousand in my paypal account.
