Earth Hour website If you follow the link above you will find details about Earth Hour 2009, happening this Saturday at 8:30 PM local time. All over the world people will be making a statement by turning out their lights (electronics, etc.) and participating in an outside activity. If your city is participating in Earth Hour they may have some free local events going on for your family to participate in. If not, you can start Earth Hour awareness in your community today.
How does this fit into destroying debt? Well, you will save yourself a dollar or two by "getting out" for an hour, or you can turn this into a whole night of saving money and the environment. You can also work with your community to have a monthly "earth hour" or even within your family to have a weekly earth hour. You might even go so far as to have an earth hour every day, during a time when you would usually use electricity, light some candles and find an alternative way to use that time before you go to bed. This is especially easy to do during the summer months when it is lighter at later times.
