My Economic Stimulus Check Due to Arrive on Friday, May 9th - What To Do, What to Do!
I'm In Debt

In our house, it's a husband and wife (me!), and two kids. We're getting $1800 in the Economic Stimulus money - which will be a direct deposit made to the checking account on or before May 9th.
The question remains- what to do with it once it's in there!
My husband has decided he wants half of the money to use for his upcoming trip to South Carolina for a friend's wedding. Despite some initial protests on my part, I guess there isn't really a strong enough argument I can make that would cause him to change his mind. After all, the kids are a result of half of his efforts, too!
Originally I had planned on using the entire amount to partially fund a family trip to DisneyLand, but now that my "portion" is down to $900, it's just not as tempting to take that trip, knowing we'd have to fork over quite a bit more to make the trip happen.
Now what? Since my entire plan has changed, I've been thinking of new ways to spend or use the cash. I know it's not a ton of money, but its $900 more than what I would normally make and I don't want to use it "wrong". I'm torn between paying off two little credit cards I have with less than $400 balances on each and putting the money in my ING direct savings account to earn a little interest for awhile. I'm leaning towards saving it, because I have had to dip into savings recently for some car repairs, but I sure would like to eliminate the credit cards. At least they are manageable debt and payments- and both have reasonable interest rates that don't make me too ill when I view my monthly statements to see how much of my payment has gone towards the principle balance instead of the interest!
So, whatcha gonna do with your money? From looking around at other personal finance bloggers, it seems that there aren't many people who are literally planning on a shopping spree - but I guess what we say we're going to do with the money and what we REALLY do with the money could be two very different things, huh?
