my horrible credit score - but who to blame it on?

people being forced threw bankrupcy - Posted: 11/25/2007
It all started with my ex-wife. She spent her way threw life, not paying taxes, and watched our credit score plumit. This was over 6 years ago, but, of course, my credit score it still awful. Now, because of her, I cannot even apply for a credit card, besides the pre-pay master cards. Especially trying to buy a car, or something big like that, can cause huge trouble. I say, there should be a service for this sort of scenario. There are services that clam to be able to "erase ALL your credit card debt now!!!" but, so far, the ones I have looked at, have turned to be scams. I've heard that other contries help there citizens along with things like this, so why cant America? After all, we are the "greatest country in the world"...or so we say. Now im not anti-American, but look at all the people downing in debt, bankruptcy, and it my case, horible credit score. If Michael More were to do another film (witch he probably will) I vote for it to be on the bad debt, and bankruptcy in America. Now the only part thats left is who to blame it one. Ah, i have another vote. People like my ex-wife. In fact, if I didn't menchin this, I believe she has perfect (or close to it) credit score, and left me with all that bad. now come on, is that fare? but what am I going to do? I could spend 5-10 year, and maybe get it back up to an almost exceptible number. But oh well. For now i suppose i will have to live with my ex-wife problems on my back. Or hey, how about this. I go get myself married, then divorced, and leave all the bad credit with my new ex. Just doesn't work that way. Althow it did for my EX. Now i don't want this to turn into more of a vent, then a blog post, so if you have that special person ruining (or ruined) your credit score, or any other aspect of your life for that matter, lets unite. "With freedom and [good credit score] for the better half!" Well, maybe im the only one with this problem, or maybe one of few, but its a big problem, that limits alot of things in life. Alot of nice things.

rofizarkasih - I think it's still  good news. First, you face the problem and don't avoid it. Second, you have survive during your hard times until now. Third, you are in the right site. There are many helpful articles here to guide you getting out of debt. Sharing your problem with another people who have the same problem is a good thing to do.
Carlo - I'm guessing the reason your credit score was ruined and not hers is because the loans were in your name only.  It's unfortunate but that's the way it goes sometimes.  There's not really any magic bullet to fix the problem.  Your credit score is like you're report card in school, you can't just hire someone to go change it to fix problems, you have to slowly work to improve it over time.  Fortunately it sounds like you're coming up on the seven year mark where some of these debt will start dropping off.
